Clos du Bois Merlot Sonoma County 2005
Clos du Bois Merlot has extended maceration enhances color, flavor and mouthfeel, and aging for 18 months in 60-gallon oak barrels adds softness and a subtle vanillin component. Small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon add structure and complexity, which enlivens the subtle texture and plum-like fruitiness that is the hallmark of fine Clos du Bois Merlot.
RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
I drank the whole bottle! I am usually NOT a fan of shiraz but this was recommended by a friend. It had soft fruit in the beginning followed by a little wood and spice with a soft short finish making it very easy drinking.
Blackberry, currant, and olives come to mind; not overly heavy and good with cheese, shrimp and chicken.

The color of this Merlot is dense black cherry red. It has aromas of raspberry and black cherry, with a touch of vanilla, sweet tobacco and toasty oak. Rich flavors of bright blueberry and black cherry, are encompassed by a silky mouth-feel with hints of oak spice and a long finish. - Winery
