The fruit for our Merlot comes from vineyards in Sonoma County's Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys. Extended maceration enhances color, flavor and mouthfeel, and aging for 18 months in 60-gallon oak barrels ads softness and a subtle vanillin component. Cabernet Sauvignon adds structure and complexity, and enlivens the subtle texture and plum-like fruitiness which is the hallmark of fine Merlot.

Made from lush fruit carefully selected from a few Alexander Valley growers long associated with Clos du Bois, this is an elegant, full-bodied wine, featuring an extravaganza of ripe cherry and blueberry flavors. Aged around 24 months in new and older 60-gallon French oak barrels, the wine also exhibits a seductively plush layer of plum and toasty oak aromas.

COLOR: Bright red with an ochre tone reminiscent of vine leaves in autumn NOSE: Well-defined bouquet combining the vanilla aroma of oak with the primary aromas of fresh grapes PALATE: Wine with a great balance in the mouth. Velvety and elegant, with an intense fruity aroma and lingering aftertaste.
