What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Reviews

The 2005 was a sweepstakes winner in the 2007 Sonoma County Harvest Fair; I tried it at the Wine Annex last night. It was a bit heavy on the oak, but had some nice acid. It was really nice with our Dungeness crab dipped in butter.

Distinctive and individualistic, with mineral, apricot, citrus and wildflower notes -- not your typical Chardonnay. This is possibly the result of clonal variations. The wine drinks smooth, creamy, dry and complex, with a peppery finish. -Wine Enthusiast Our Calcaire Vineyard is bordered by the Russian River in the southern end of Alexander Valley. Crop yields are low and the fruit is small and intensely flavored. Calcaire is a medium-bodied, lush wine with tropical fruit flavors, soft vanillin oak bouquet and a long, complex finish.
