Clos des Lunes Lune D Argent 2013

Winemaker's Notes:

"A white with a pretty, soft texture for the vintage that turns to a citrus and honey character. Crisp at the finish. Lovely potential...90-91" JS 04/14 "The 2013 Lune d’Argent is a blend of 70% Semillon and 30% Sauvignon Blanc offering lots of exotic mango, pineapple and Mandarin orange notes in its aromatics, crisp acidity, and a medium-bodied, fresh, lively mouthfeel. Both these offerings can be drunk over the next 2-3 years, although they may last a lot longer...88-89" WA 08/14

Domaine de Chevalier is located in a clearing in the middle of a forest that protects the vines from extremes of temperature. In fact, Chevalier is a sort of secret garden, far from the limelight. This is something of a paradox for such an excellent wine, among the greatest in Bordeaux . Only a great terroir can produce a great wine... I often start out with these words when speaking about Domaine de Chevalier. They convey our fundamental philosophy, not only with regard to viticulture, but also the spirit that pervades the estate, and the men and women who work here. They improve their already considerable skills year after year on behalf of that which is most essential to a fine wine in my opinion — balance. Read less

The 2013 edition of Domaine de Chevalier's Clos des Lunes (Lune d'Argent) white Bordeaux blend is somewhat more muted on the nose than the previous edition (2012) with gooseberry predominating. Colour is very light yellow. Entry is clean, refreshing and citric - but with a creamier mouthfeel (Semillon dominates) than most other similar Bordeaux Blancs. Some almond astringency on the finish, but showing structure and elegance. Good value. 90 points.
