Clos de Vougeot Faiveley 92 Jg Premier 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

"This is unusually elegant in 2010 with its refined nose of raspberry and earth though there are background notes of grilled meat and smoke. The supple, mouth coating and utterly delicious broad-shouldered flavors possess a silky texture yet there is plenty of power and punch to the very firmly structured finish...92-95" BH 1/12 "Good deep red. Very pure, complex nose melds black cherry, minerals, black pepper, wild herbs and an earthy nuance. Large-scaled, sweet and rich, with a strong mineral underpinning to the flavors of black cherry and spices. A very powerful and impressive Clos Vougeot with outstanding persistence. The crop-limiting effect of the December frost has produced a wine with stunning concentration...93-96" IWC 1/12 "The 2010 Clos Vougeot from Maison Faiveley was showing quite well at the tasting at the Château de Clos Vougeot, jumping from the glass in a classy and new oaky aromatic mélange of cherries, plums, a touch of orange peel, gamebirds, lovely soil tones and plenty of smoky new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nascently complex, with a fine core of fruit, plenty of personality and very good length and grip on the tangy and chewy finish. There is a fair bit of wood tannin on the backend that still needs to be absorbed here, but there seems to be no issue with this eventually coming to pass. But, as good as this wine will be in the fullness of time, it does not seem likely to ever be a particularly transparent example of the vintage and the vineyard. But, there is a lot to like here. 2020-2070. 92+..." JG 06/12

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
