Clos de Los Siete Malbec Blend Argentina 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

"The 2011 Clos de los Siete is a blend of 56% Malbec, 14% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Syrah, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot and could be described as the blend of blends. It has plenty of spicy notes, black pepper, nutmeg and clove, smoke, dry hay and straw over a core of black and red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied, with sleek tannins, good acidity and good length. This is a superbly-crafted wine at a good price." *-Wine Advocate (90 Points)*"Features tinges of tobacco and green herb to the dense, sinewy flavors of mulberry, dark plum and cranberry. Notes of stone and spice emerge on the straightforward finish. Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot." *–KM, Wine Spectator*

The idea was to produce a wine in the then largely untapped landscape of Tunuyan valley, south of Mendoza, Argentina. The name derives from the original seven wine industry investors who were first attached to the project. Their mission was to make wines in Argentina that rival some of the best in the world, without the use of fertilizers, pesticides and with traditional, time-tested methods. Since then, a collective of wine-making estates bearing the Clos de los Siete name have emerged and gained prominence.  Read less
