Clos de l'Oratoire des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2016

Member Review by zufrieden:

The 2016 Clos de l'Oratoire des Papes sits beautifully translucent red in the glass...rather pressed cherry or Kirsch. The sent is again of harvested bins of cherries, leaking juice with an added layer of bread and spice. Entry is quite smooth given the wine's youth - full of cherry, vanilla and sweet buns toughened by medium tannin (oak). Finish is long and satisfying, with Grenache dominant. A very fine wine at an excellent price. 94.

In 1859, Christophe Ogier established a wine-merchants' company called Ogier at Fils, which reached its full potential under Antoine Ogier from 1859 onwards. In 1948, our business became that of a 'negociant-eleveur' a buyer and producer of wines. Some years later, a merger took place with the firm of Bessac Caves des Papes in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, on of the major merchants and producers of wine, which had started as a cooperage. Thus, Ogier Caves des Papes has became one of the foremost houses in the Rhone valley, based in the heart of the village of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Read less
