Clos de l'Oratoire des Papes Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc 2012

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Spectator Review
Rated 90
A silky, caressing style, with red currant, plum and blackberry fruit melded together and gliding over singed spice, dried star anise and fruitcake notes. Presents a light cedary backdrop on the finish. Drink now through 2022.

Wine Tasting Notes
Complex, open nose with aromas of blackberry fruit, floral notes of violets, and fresh moss, accented by hints of new leather, ginger and allspice. Rich and harmonious, showing superb maturity. Ripeness and power on the palate. The clean, intense front presents beautiful red fruit and spice, with a touch of minerality. The silky tannin structure provides a long finish of exotic fruit flavors.

Grape Varietals: Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah & Mourvedre.

In 1859, Christophe Ogier established a wine-merchants' company called Ogier at Fils, which reached its full potential under Antoine Ogier from 1859 onwards. In 1948, our business became that of a 'negociant-eleveur' a buyer and producer of wines. Some years later, a merger took place with the firm of Bessac Caves des Papes in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, on of the major merchants and producers of wine, which had started as a cooperage. Thus, Ogier Caves des Papes has became one of the foremost houses in the Rhone valley, based in the heart of the village of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Read less
