Clos de l'Oratoire des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2003

Winemaker's Notes:

91 points Jeb Dunnuck (Wine Advocate): A classic, traditional Chateauneuf du Pape that shows only the best of the vintage, the 2003 Clos de l'Oratoire des Papes Chateauneuf du Pape offers up beautiful kirsch, licorice, aged beef and herb qualities that flow seamlessly to a medium to full-bodied, balanced and completely integrated palate. Concentrated and rich, yet also very fresh and pure, with sweet tannin, it is drinking superbly now, yet should continue to evolve gracefully for another 3-5 years. Drink: 2013-2018. (Jun 2013)

Some years later, a merger took place with the firm of Bessac Caves des Papes in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, on of the major merchants and producers of wine, which had started as a cooperage. Thus, Ogier Caves des Papes has became one of the foremost houses in the Rhone valley, based in the heart of the village of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Read less
