My Rating 88. Nice nose of fruit and oak. Taste a little too much rest sweetness. otherwise very pleasant, smooth and full of Berries. If you would not know this is a Zinfandel, you would never guess it.

Another great bargain at World Market, $8.99, may tend to be almost too sweet but still a good everyday dinner wine.

We were not impressed with this wine, even at the lower price. It seems too simple and without character. As we drank it, it was hard to decide what it was trying to be - a little of everything and not much of anything. A boring wine.

As always the California Zinfandel is a challenging and rewarding wine to produce. Severe selection criteria and master blending show in the final product, which showcases a wide array of dark berry fruit including black cherry and raspberry. Additionally, spice notes and a lasting finish of vanilla from oak aging and firm, supple tannins add complexity to this wine. This wine is ready to drink now and will continue to develop complexity over the next three to four years.

Lively in the mouth, with flavors of raisins, dried currants and roasted herbs, highlighted by modest tannins. A very good Zin at a hard-to-argue-with price. Drink now through 2005.

The 1997 Zinfandel California is medium ruby-colored and elegant, with loads of fresh, briery, cranberry and cherry fruit, spice, and pepper. All the wines exhibited deep, saturated colors, and are made from fine raw materials with high quality fruit.

Zesty and a bit rustic, with dried and baked cherry notes backed with anise and pepper. Tannins firm the finish. Drink now through 2015.

Juicy and ripe, with modest black cherry, caramel and spice flavors. Drink now.

This mouth-coating Zinfandel offers flavors of toasted caramel and dark berries. Soft tannins and a lasting vanilla finish make the Ancient Vine Zin dangerously easy to drink.
