Agree with the previous reviewer about the ripeness. Fairly big fruity nose, and similar berry hit on the tongue. Disagree on the tannin. To me this one has fairly tame tannin. No problem with sediment--glass is crystal clear. Very pleasant, lingering finish. US$12.99 at Trader Joe's.
Ripe fruit, balanced and rather tannic for a zin.
This Zin from Cline is such a good bargain with its smooth tannin, oaked raspberry and cherry flavours with a clean finish, but lately I have noticed more than a few "off" bottles (very watery, lacking flavour with some unfiltered residue) that have made me more than a bit wary of the next due to inconsistency!
plum, blackberries on the nose.....medium bodied with a smooth long finish
A wine we purchased a case of for Anne/Andy's last February's wedding. The last bottle went down at Christmas dinner 2013. Everybody who tasted it had good things to say about it. We will miss the taste that goes with the memories.
Light-Medium body. Alcohol on the nose, but wasn't hot in the mouth. Red fruit but not much else going on.
Nice and easy drinking but not as fruity as I like. More oaky and spicy and kind of salty. Wouldn't buy again.

Great value, with jammy black fruit and lots of smoke and spice. Perfect with barbecue or tacos.
More serious is the bigger, richer 2012 Zinfandel Ancient Vine, which boasts a dark ruby/purple color as well as peppery, black cherry and black raspberry fruit, and a touch of spicy oak. It was aged eight months in one-third new American oak.
A snappy Zinfandel, with smoky raspberry aromas and zesty, user-friendly cherry, anise and spice flavors. Drink now through 2019.
This Ancient Vine Zinfandel has flavors of dark berries, coffee and chocolate with a nice vanilla oakiness that leads into a long lingering finish. It is deep, complex and easy to enjoy. Cline Cellars Website
The Oakley ranch, situated 40 miles east of San Francisco, is home to Cline s Ancient Vines - some of the oldest and most rare grapevines in California that range in age from 80 to 120 years old.
Shows wonderful dusty raspberry, blackberry, white pepper and spice, with coffee and chocolate characters. Ripe fruit and soft tannin make this vintage full of mouth-coating richness. Prolonged aging in new and used wood has lent this wine a subtle vanilla quality that nicely complements the explosive fruit notes. Enjoy this wine presently for its effusive black fruit, or cellar for 5-7 years.
Packed with luscious cherry, raspberry and blackberry fruits, but don't be surprised: this full-bodied red jam-master is delightfully silky with a dry, lingering finish. Ancient vines, labelled OV or "old vines," denotes that the grapes come from matured vines - usually a minimum of 40 years old - and offer a greater depth and richness in the wines produced. This is a big red to be paired with red or game meats.
