Purchased 7/06, drinking it nearly three years later. Delicious aromas of spicebox, earth, cherries, plums. Terrific spicy palate, with the fruit no longer primary. In the background there are plums, black cherries and yes some chocolate in the finish. Shows the aging potential of the wine--tasting very different from those who reported on it earlier.

Plum and cocoa on the nose, dark fruit, chocolate, spice and tobacco, nice tannins and finish

This is a grape I buy often. The history of the grape is interesting, if you have the time you should explore the history. This wine pairs well with red sauces.

We are sort of unsophsticated folks, but took a recent tour of this winery. We loved this particular wine and just ordered two more bottles.
