Sometimes I don't want to have to think too much about my wine and never is that more true than after a day's worth of tasting. With a light(ish) dinner of salumi, cheese and polenta on an early spring evening that hinted at the summer's warmth to come I opted to revisit an old friend, Lambrusco. I could have a grabbed a Lambrusco with more complexity and depth, but I like I said I was not in the mood to think. Well, this bottle of Pruno Nero was just the ticket. It's happiness in a bottle, packed with ripe dark berry fruits and a touch of earth classically framed by soft tannins and fine fizz. This is not a profound wine, but rather it's a classic wine. It's what wine is ultimately supposed to be; fresh, pure, and the perfect accompaniment to a rustic, simple dinner. Easy to find around $10 a bottle, this is a great introduction to dry Lambrusco and I would love to hear back from all of you after you try it! 87pts

Always one of my favorite bottles of Lambrusco. This has a touch of violet on the nose with rich, fresh sour cherry and black raspberry fruit. In the mouth it's got a whisper of sweetness but is bursting with red plum and black raspberry fruit that is just a touch astringent and bitter, balancing the sweetness perfectly. The finish has a great acid cut and leaves one with a lingering, earth, mineral tinged note of black currant. This is pretty much as good as Lambrusco gets! 90pts

This is a very nice sparkling red. A full, fruity flavor with proper bubbles. Would've been nicer with a bit more chill, definitely worth returning too.

This lightly sparkling, medium-bodied dry Lambrusco shows lots of bright red fruit on the palate and is almost alarmingly drinkable. This red is absolutely perfect for the summer: just put a chill on it and enjoy.
