Cleavage Creek Cellars Red Blend Tracy Hills Secret Red 2007

Member Review by aronowm2:

I have no guesses as to what is in this but it is very tasty. If I had to guess I would say syrah, zinfandel and pinot even though there is no chance that is correct. Cherry pit and pomegranate is what dominates for me. Also the finish is a bit too acidic. Definitely can use a decant. I do love the donations to breast cancer research that this winery does though. Great idea!

There's definite fruit on the nose and on the palate with notes of oak, chocolate and dark berries, maybe cherries. Definitely bolder and more complex than the previous vintage. I didn't pair this wine with food though probably should have as I found it a bit heavy to be a sipping wine. Even though I got this as a sample, I think it's priced a bit high but then again, 10% of the company's GROSS sales are donated towards the fight against breast cancer - admirable, noble, and inspiring.

This wine is actually from the Tracy Hills region of California not Napa but I can't edit the wine info. The nose is fairly light and the sip is full of cranberry, cocoa & spice. Though not complex, it's well balanced, highly enjoyable and extremely easy to drink. Paired very well Indian food - dark veggie based sauces mixed with tofu, cheese and lentils, some naan, and rice with sausage. Even though I got this as a sample, I think it's priced a bit high but then again, 10% of the company's GROSS sales are donated towards the fight against breast cancer - admirable, noble, and inspiring.
