What to Expect

Petite Sirah is one of a group of grapes that took to a new home - in this case California - after moving from the relative obscurity enjoyed at its birthplace - France in this case - where it is called Duriff. While never particularly elegant nor subtle, Petite Sirah can produce large-scaled, intense wines with bright flavors of blue and plummy fruits, rich with earthy tannins.

Editorial Reviews

Pencil shavings and bright, precise fruit on the nose. Really intense aromatics with white pepper, grilled gamy meat, freshly roasted coffee beans and red currant jam, nuanced lemon rind and violet notes. This has a bit of an extracted feel to it but with masses of sweet fruit helping to buffer the formidable tannins. Absolutely packed with fruit that has a touch of a leathery edge but remains fresh and vibrant with lovely boysenberry and black plum tones. Reviews

Bright and exuberant with sweet, meaty, and spicy flavors. Left a slightly chalky sweet coating in my mouth - very enjoyable.

This Petite Sirah comes from some of the oldest plantings in Paso Robles. The wine has good tannins, it's rich in dark fruit of black plums with spicy black pepper, brown sugar and vanilla.

Spicy nose of lilacs and coffee. Good acids on the attack, very fruity, rich and mouthfilling. Theres a core of fruit (blackberries, plums) and then some nice dirty aged notes on the finish (barnyard, leather) - very nice

Gamey, berry nose, with a juicy center that reminds me a bit of the inside of a jelly donut. It's a little more oaked than that, of course.

Nose of Berries & medicinal noes leads to sweet tar & heavy black tea fruits, very woody.
