Founded in 1970 in Oregon's lush Willamette Valley, Ponzi Vineyards is internationally acclaimed for producing some of the World's finest Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and White Riesling, as well as Arneis and Dolcetto, two rare Italian varietals. For nearly four decades, wine pioneers Dick and Nancy Ponzi have set the standard for Oregon's viticultural innovation while maintaining an unwavering commitment to a tradition of winemaking excellence. Today, this philosophy is carried on by the Ponzi Family's second generation: Winemaker Luisa Ponzi, Director of Sales and Marketing Maria Ponzi Fogelstrom and Director of Operations Michel Ponzi. All 120 acres of family-owned vineyards in the Northern Willamette Valley are LIVE Certified Sustainable, the world's highest standard for sustainable viticulture. Ponzi Vineyards continues to hold long-term contracts with many of the best growers in the region. Driven by the concept that the variety must match the terroir and climate, Ponzi Vineyards continues to set the standard for Oregon and remains at the forefront of the nation's top wine producers. Today, the winery and vineyards are operated under the same guiding principles with second-generation winemaker Luisa Ponzi at the helm. Luisa has produced the wines since 1993, using her classic Burgundian style. Read less

Open-textured and defly balanced to let the currant plum and white pepper flavors emerge uncontested by fine-grain tannins. Has impressive length too.

Light in texture, with an earthy streak running through the cherry and pepper flavors. Drink now through 2009.

Meant to be a lighter, more accesible style, and it is, with raspberry and cherry notes that weave through the fine texture, finishing with a tart tang. Drink now through 2004.

A marvelous value, the Tavola brings bright raspberry fruit, spicy black tea and Dr. Pepper flavors to the fore. Details include streaks of licorice and baking chocolate; itrsquo;s got great complexity for a wine in this price range, and steers clear of the vegetal/leafy stuff that plagues a lot of Oregon Pinot. This is complex and almost satiny as it swoops through the finish.

Ponzirsquo;s Tavola Pinot Noir does a great job of filling in the value end of the wineryrsquo;s lineup. Luisa Ponzi consistently assembles a forward, spicy wine that drinks well upon release. The 2007 follows right on the heels of the excellent 2006, perhaps a bit lighter, but with tangy wild berry fruit and refreshing acids.
