Claudia Springs Pinot Noir Klindt Vineyard(2004)

Winemaking Notes: 2004 was a frantic harvest. A heat spike in September pushed the grapes into ripeness early, and all the varietals came in at once. It was a challenge to find a picking crew. We decided to do a trial on some of this wine by doing some whole cluster fermentation. 10-15% of the grapes were placed intact into the bottom of the fermenters, and the rest de-stemmed on top. This resulted in getting more bright fruit flavors from the carbonic maceration of the uncrushed grapes as well as a hint of spiciness from the stems.
