What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Winemakers Notes

Nyetimber Vineyard pioneered the UK's recent rise to fame and recognition for its ability to be taken seriously at international level. The estate was conceived, planted and equipped exclusively for the production of top-quality sparkling wines. Just over fourteen hectares (thirty-five acres) of gentle, south-facing slopes of greensand soil were planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, the classic varieties of the Champagne region. The appearance of the Classic Cuvée is a pale lemon yellow, persistent fine beaded mousse. The nose is very expressive, with aromas read more...of honey, hazelnut, almond, marmalade, biscuity with lemon, floral and subtle toasty notes underneath. The palate is medium to full bodied, with mature honey and toast aromas, plus lime undertones. Attractive mouthfeel with rich and yet delicate mousse that progresses nicely towards mineral and slate-like flavourson the finish.
