What to Expect

Grenache is the main grape in many Rhone blends and most Cotes du Rhone and Chateaunuef-du-pape. It's a grape that yields soft, lightly colored yet full wines endowed with deep notes of strawberry and raspberry. Wine Skinny

The other tasting favorite, this one offers a firmer, fuller-bodied character than the Kangarilla, with concentrated plum and blackberry fruit accented with black pepper and anise notes that emerge on the focused finish. As usual for this cuvee, the 2004 Grenache Blewitt Springs possesses an extraordinary, exotic, flamboyant personality that causes Roman Bratasiuk to say it's his 'Dolly Parton-styled wine.' Terrific notes of blackberries, raspberries, and rich kirsch liqueur are accompanied by an opulent, flamboyant wine with tremendous viscosity and richness as well as a lusty, heady finish. In short, it's a mouthfilling, full-bodied red to drink during its first 5-7 years of life. Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate 93 Points
