Winemakers Notes

Nearly perfect, the 1997 Astralis (100% new French oak) is an explosive wine that represents the essence of Shiraz. The opaque purple colour resembles a young vintage port. Reviews

Rating: 94(+?) - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 85, July/August 1999 Full ruby. Superripe aromas of roasted plum, saddle leather, smoked meat, mint and oak spice. Huge, thick and sweet; extraordinarily ripe but supported by firm, ripe acids. Really suffuses the palate with sweet fruit. Explosive aftertaste features roasted berry, leather and woodsmoke notes and uncanny sweetness. Showing extremely well today but built to age.
