Clarendelle Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend Bordeaux Contrôlée Blanc 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Thanks to a beautiful summer and magnificent weather during the harvest, the 2009 vintage almost perfetly met the criteria for a great vintage in Bordeaux. Early flowering and fruit-set at the beginning of June were accompanied by hot, sunny, and relatively dry weather. Véraison (colour change) was also early. The grapes ripened completely thanks to warm temperatures in August and September. The exceptionally dry weather during the harvest was everything a winegrower could wish for. Our 2009 comes from clay-limestone rises in the Dordogne Valley, in the northern part of the Entre-Deux-Mers region. August 2009 was hotter than the three previous years, but not excessively so. Therefore, Sauvignon Blanc retained good acidity and aromatics whereas Sémillon developed outstanding power and complexity.

Oily apricot and white chocolate nose, with a soft semi-crisp body to match, metallic finish. Well balanced, and easy to drink.

beautiful yellow color, caught a floral hint on the nose, some pit fruit and a touch of acid. i found it restrained - i guess is the best way to put it - and enjoyable.

Tasting Notes:

Brilliant yellow colour, and optimum ripeness produced citrus and honey aromas reminiscent of certain Sauternes. Altogether exquisite bouquet with hints of white flowers. The Sauvignon Blanc in the blend has maintained freshness and minerality on the palate. Full-bodied and delicious with a beautiful, long aftertaste.
