Cinzano Rosso Premier L NV

External Review by Premium Wine & Spirits:

This vermouth is lively with scents of eucalyptus, mint, quinine and vanilla bean. The citrus pith flavors have an edge of cream and coffee. It’s a little heavy on the sugar, so dial down the sweetness in the cocktail.

The white version with a different combination of botanicals was created soon after. The brand has long been associated with its ornate, colorful, graphic labels and advertising. The posters in particular have been known to beautifully reflect current events by showcasing scenes that are both glamorous and timely. The business stayed in the Cinzano family till 1985. The reddish/brown color is prune juice-like and clean. The opening whiffs pick up dried fruits, including prunes, dates, and black raisins; touches of herbs and spices get added to the aroma following the aeration period. The palate entry is more bittersweet than outright sweet and intensely fruity (stewed prunes); at the midpalate juncture, the red fruit element really jumps out at you in mildly herbal/spicy tastes that include quinine, cinnamon, roots, and pepper.
