Cinciano Chianti Classico Riserva 2003

Winemaker's Notes:

As good as Tuscany gets at a tremendous price. I have not tasted a Chianti Classico Riserva this good at this price for years. Top quality Chianti Classico Riserva are all over $45 a bottle. The 2003 vintage was one of the hottest summers in memory and winemakers who picked at the right time made legendary wines. The Cinciano Chianti Classico Riserva is one of those wines. Cinciano is a tiny family run Winery found on hillside of the town of Poggiobonsi. All the fruit that goes into this wine is from these hillside, handpicked vineyards. The wine has become an instant classic and very hard to get. This is a great example of Classico Riserva, the bouquet is spectacular, one of the best I have experienced, the rest of the wine flows magnificently and at the price not to be missed. Tasting Notes: Intense ruby red color, a nose displaying complex aromas of dark, jammy plum and juicy black cherries, evident spicy notes, hints of vanilla, and sweet toasty oak. Ample and persistent on the palate with sublime textures, incredible richness, balanced with elegance and restraint on a long, delicious finish. Drinking beautifully now, but has potential to age and develop over the next decade. Food & Wine Pairing Goes Great with: Roast, Steak, Short ribs, Hamburgers, Lamb,Cornish hen, Duck, Turkey, Roast suckling pig, Quail, Pheasant, Venison.Past with: meat, bolognese.Cheese: Parmigiano, Romano, Cheddar.Soups: chicken, meat-based stews.
