Ciconia Touriga Nacional Syrah Aragones Alentejano 2009

Member Review by Slipstream:

No vintage on the label. Price was around $14. I met one of the winemakers, who was at a wine shop in New York City promoting his product. He said he preferred blends, and did not understand why Americans didn't drink more of them, and I agreed. The main grape in this blend is used primarily for sherry, he said. The aroma is a bit boozy, but still enjoyable. Ciconia is full-flavored with a broad streak of sourness, mixed with a little smoky sweetness. There is a touch of sherry and clove flavor, and some pleasant tannins in the close. Good stuff.
