Ciconia 2010

Member Review by barri0s1872:

This is a great buy now that i know how much it goes for: soft nose with some bright fruit that are held back by great structure, soft tannin, and long finish. At the mid-palate is where all the action is before the long finish. A little on the lighter side but a great bottle!

The 2010 andldquo;Ciconiaandrdquo; Tinto is 60% Aragonez, 30% Syrah and 10% Touriga Nacional. This is a fun and fruity wine that tastes sweet and ripe. It is still probably better balanced that some earlier versions, not quite as candied or cloying and even a bit elegant after it airs out. Taking it for what it is, it can be a delightful picnic or party wine at a very pleasing, dirt cheap price. For early consumption, noting that it has little mid-palate concentration or structure, it is seriously tasty and rather charming. However long it holds, it is going to be at its best when fresh and young. Drink nowandndash;2014.

Attractive, ripe wine, packed with forward plum and damson fruits. Coffee and bitter chocolate add extra interest. It is smooth, just layered with tannins, ready to drink. Screwcap.

A soft, earthy wine with light fruits and plum jelly flavors. It is a wine that should be drunk young to enjoy its balance of fruitiness, acidity and light tannins. Screwcap.

Broad and ripe-tasting, showing focused flavors of berry and red cherry, with a touch of currant. Fresh and juicy on the finish, which includes notes of molten chocolate. Aragonês, Touriga Nacional and Syrah. Drink now through 2013.

A blend of touriga nacional, syrah and aragones, this is a simple wine with black and blueberry fruit. Thereandrsquo;s enough tension in its gentle richness to take on braised pork trotters.
