Ciacci Rosso di Montlcno Picc 2006
A blend of Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot aged in stainless steel, the wine expresses the characteristic sour cherry and dusty tannins of Sangiovese softened by the richness of Merlot and the structure of Cabernet, all for an incredibly low price that makes this wine perfect for any meal and everyday drinking! Blended from young-vine fruit from vineyards from which Ciacci's signature Super-Tuscan Ateo is produced, this is a perfect opportunity to experience a baby Ateo at a fraction of the cost.
External Reviews for Ciacci Rosso di Montlcno Picc
The entry-level 2006 Toscana Rosso is fresh, vinous red perfect for casual drinking over the next few years. I can't think of too many wines that deliver this much sheer pleasure for the money.
The 2004 Montecucco Sangiovese, a blend of predominantly Sangiovese with small amounts of Merlot and Syrah from the Montecucco district in Maremma, is richer, and weightier than the Rosso di Montalcino, expressing the warmth of its microclimate as well as a subtle use of barrique in its more intense color, sweet dark fruit, toasted oak and licorice flavors. It offers much length on the palate and plenty of style. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2010.
A cool, crisp expression of Sangiovese that exhibits the bright berried fruit on the palate with classic spicy, floral aromatics and a nuance of coffee that serves as a great introduction to the fine Sangiovese of Brunello.
In recent years, Ciacci's Toscana Rosso has established itself as one of the finest values in Tuscany, and the 2007 is no exception. Essentially a second selection of barrels from the Ateo and Fabius, the 2007 Toscana Rosso flows with generous, plump fruit and a juicy, irresistible personality. Readers will have a hard time finding a better value in Tuscan wine. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2013.
The 2008 Toscana Rosso Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona is a pleasant, juicy wine best enjoyed in its youth. The 2008 is a good effort, but not quite the screaming deal it can be in the very best years. Teh Toscana Rosso is an unoaked blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2014.
