Churchill Porto Vintage 2011

Member Review by ryanopaz:

1st Grape, earth, mineral, and melon all on the nose. Big tannin, and acid with a rich chocolate character. Flavors of cherry(dried), and anise, though there is more there it is a rich and complex wine. 4/5 2nd Blue berry nose with wood, earth and melon on the palate. Firm big tannin and med-high acid. 4.5/5 [NR]

Full bodied, well balanced with deep jammy fruit.

Offers intense aromas and flavors of violet, cherry and dark plum, showing an almost exotic velvety nature, with loads of cream and spice accents. Delivers notes of chocolate and vanilla extract on the explosive finish. Very alluring. Best from 2030 through 2060.

The Churchill’s Vintage Port has a comparatively light, aniseed-tinged bouquet with orange blossom that wafts seductively from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe tannins and very well-judged acidity that lends this young Churchill’s great precision. This is a very harmonious Vintage Port with a lovely touch of salted licorice towards the finish. Beautiful. 3,000 cases declared. Tasted May 2013.

Peppery aromas, with lots of crushed berries. Medium- to full-bodied, with light sweetness and a soft, round tannic structure. Not on the same level as the fabulous 2000. Best after 2010. 3,000 cases made. -JS Wine Spectator. A Port wine from Douro in Portugal. 2003 Churchill's Vintage Porto 375ml

...Complex aromas of lead pencil shavings, blueberries, creme de cassis, and licorice emerge from this dense ruby/purple-colored 2000. Full body, sweet tannin (which provides definition), and outstanding concentration result in a seriously-endowed, f... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. Wonderful violets, berries and flowers on the nose. Full-bodied, sweet and round, with a velvety texture and a long finish. Already lovely. '91/'92 Port retrospective. Best after 2006. 3,600 cases made. -JS Wine Spectator. A Port wine from Douro in Portugal. 1991 Churchill's Vintage Porto 750ml
