Chumeia Viognier California 2007

Member Review by treg906:

This one missed with me. Pleasant peach and pear flavors, but lacking the heavier mouth feel that I like in a Viognier. The wine is fermented in 100% stainless which is the likely reason for its lighter body. If 10-15% of the wine would have been barrel fermented it would add to its weight and complexity. Finish was not very smooth or luxurious adding to my disappointment.

“This vintage is 100% Viognier, 100% stainless steel fermentation, no malolactic fermentation and no oak…just great Viognier! Take in big aromas of lush stone fruits like peaches, apricots and nectarines and a hint of lychee nut. The mouth feel and flavor begins with the stone fruit flavors followed by lush texture and a powerful finish. Enjoy!” winemaker, Lee Nesbitt Viognier lends itself to grilled foods, fresh salads, seafood and fresh fruits. Try this Viognier with grilled scallops, Indian spiced chicken salad and Caribbean crabcakes.
