What to Expect

Pinot Noir: Responsible for some of the greatest wines on earth - the exhausted red wines of France's Burgundy region. Pinot Noir is a notoriously fickle grape that expresses its origins like no other. Reviews

BH 90 (1/2006): Not surprisingly, this is bigger, richer and more intense with an extremely ripe and densely fruited nose of earth, mocha and plum that leads to huge, sappy and powerful flavors that deliver serious weight and length. This is a big, thick and opulent wine of serious proportions and a dramatic, even explosive finish. Fans of big burgs will love this though it is not my style.

IWC 91 (4/2006): Deep ruby, extremely dark for the vintage, showing no sign of evolution. Superripe aromas of currant and bitter chocolate. Sweet, fat and superripe, with hints of surmaturite but also noteworthy energy in the mouth thanks to solid underlying minerality. This has plenty of fresh dark fruits along with mocha and espresso notes. Finishes with huge but thoroughly ripe tannins and superb persistence. Perrot-Minot says this is 14.5% alcohol, from fruit he picked at the beginning of his harvest, on August 27.
