The Cholila Ranch is widely believed to be the area where Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid retired, and with the ability to produce some really fine Malbecs I can see why. The wine's aromatics are very flowery and pretty, giving the impression the wine will be a softer style. The body is indeed softer than most Malbecs, but the underlying complexity and the flavors of black cherry and California plum give this wine some personality. This wine was made to be served with comfort food: meat loaf, stew, soup, etc. And the comfort of the ranch must have been what convinced Butch and The Kid to stay.
