Chocalan Sauvignon Blanc Selección 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

The Chocalan estate vineyard is planted on steep slopes and in the piedmont of the Maipo Valley, near parks and lakes in the Metropolitan Region Melipilla province. "Chocalán" is pronounced "Sho-kaw-lann", it means "yellow Blossom", name given to the area by ancient aboriginal tribes, as the yellow blossoms grow wild there. These untouched 340 hectares of countryside benefit from a unique microclimate made up of contrasting luminosity, altitude, Pacific influence, varied soil types and sharp temperature fluctuations. Paired with masterful winemaking and careful nurturing for each vine, these are the ingredients of the winery's success. This Sauvignon Blanc, a fresh varietal wine with an elegant profile, has a beautiful shiny yellow color. The nose shows typical notes of this varietal, unleashing impressions of tropical and citric fruits. In the mouth, acidity is compensated by the smooth texture, leading to a fresh finish. Crisp and easy to drink, this is an ideal white wine to accompany oyster and baked white fish.

Our estate vineyard is planted on steep slopes and in the piedmont of the Maipo Valley, near parks and lakes in the Metropolitan Region Melipilla province. "Chocalán"is pronounced "Sho-kaw-lann", it means "yellow Blossom", name given to the area by ancient aboriginal tribes, as the yellow blossoms grow wild there. The circular "Origin" icon, our mark of excellence, reflects the importance accorded to the foundation of our wines: an estate vineyard selected for the quality of its privileged terroir. Viña Chocalán produces aromatic, juicy and flavorful wines, an authentic expression of the fruit and terroir. Nurtured from the grape to the glass, our wines are a cherished family treasure. After being involved during numerous years in successful agricultural and manufacturing ventures, our family was inspired to set up its own wine project in a stretch of pristine land wedged between the Andes and Coastal mountain ranges, 5 kilometers from the town of Melipilla. These untouched 340 hectares of countryside benefit from a unique microclimate made up of contrasting luminosity, altitude, Pacific influence, varied soil types and sharp temperature fluctuations.
