Chimney Rock continues a successful string of vintages with this powerful '05. It's a distinguished wine that calls to mind the description of Stags Leap Cabernet as an iron fist in a velvet glove. Rich and full-bodied, it has lush flavors of black currants and smoky new oak. Easy to find, with 28,000 cases produced. Drink now through 2012.
Sleek and elegant, with ripe and spicy cherry, wild berry and strawberry flavors. Turns supple and polished on the finish. Best from 2000 through 2007.
Seductively sweet, with ripe currant and cherry fruit framed by fancy oak, yet underlying tannins kick in the midway. Nowhere near its maximum integration; best left alone through 2008 to develop nuance.
High-toned cherry, currant and wild berry fruit is supple, elegant and balanced, but this leaves you hoping for a shade more depth and richness. Drink now through 2011. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.
The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap exhibits a medium deep ruby color along with a pretty nose of red and black currants, spice, and cedar. Medium-bodied, subtle, clean flavors of earth and wood are also present. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.
Dark, rich and polished, with ripe currant, black cherry, plum and mocha. It's dense and concentrated, with a long, focused and persistent stream of flavors. Ripe tannins are plush and complex. Best from 2004 through 2012.
