This is comparable to the 2004 vintage which is still going strong. It has a unique smokey quality and hints of various berry flavors. Hints of dark chocolate jump out just before the gentle tannins take over. A wonderful long finish just goes on and on making you remember this wonderful wine for some time.

Deep garnet in color with excellent nose. Dark fruit flavors with a hint of chocolate. Tannin is a bit overpowering on the finish. Could probably benefit from some time in the cellar.

Nice bright color with an aroma of cherries and blackberry and a strange faint banana aroma. On the palate flavors exploding every which way. Licorice, cherry, cedar, cassis and banana. Light to medium tannins keeping everything together. A well structured wine wih a nice finish.

Anticipation is one word we would use to describe our thoughts about this wine. We had this wine in the cellar for over 4 years and felt it was time to release the genie from the bottle! The wine was deep garnet in color with a ruby rim. Aroma's of fresh blackberries, black cherries, cocoa, & a hint of violets aroused my senses! The mouth feel was full bodied, velvety, with a soft tannin structure. Vibrant flavors of blackberry, ripe black plum, mocha, and cedar. As the wine opened up a bit more, flavors of vanilla and a hint of herb became more pronounced. Lush and complex with a long finish. Pair this wine most red meat dishes, pasta with a tomato meat sauce, medium to strong cheeses, or a portobello mushroom burger. Well, this is one genie that is not going back into the bottle. This vintage should age well into 2015 but it is tasting wonderful right now! We really enjoyed this wine and we give the 2004 Chimney Rock Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon a 92 point rating! We felt it had all the right flavors with excellent structure and balance. If this genie had given us 3 wishes, we would have wished for more! And World Peace too, of course. WineSplashing!!

Gallant and strong! This rich, ultra smooth has a smokey quality that is both bold yet coy. With tastes of daring chocolate covered strawberries this is not for the timid. Enjoy with meaty cuts but can also work well with lamb. Will get better for years to come.

For such a young wine, this is an amazing piece of work. I love Chimney Rock wines - truly done in the best Bordeaux blend style... But after a morning of tasting them against each other, this beat out some of their reserves. Give me more!

Justed picked a case up at Costo to replace my 97s which are almost gone. First bottle was very nice but Im going to have to cellar and see if it can approach the 97s.

This wine has a brightness in its fruit character which is seductive. Lush aromas of cherry cola, cassis and a slight hint permeate the aromatics.

Marked by hefty tannins, this Cabernet is a little too astringent to drink now. With blackberry, currant and mineral flavors, it should develop for a while, but it could go downhill quickly, so it's a gamble. - S.H. Wine Enthusiast.
