Chianti Classico Riserva Rocca Delle Macie 2010

Film producer Italo Zingarelli established Rocca delle Macie in 1973 to realize a lifelong dream. Since then he has continued to expand and improve the estate and produce consistently quality wines. This Riserva bears the family name as their commitment to making the best wine possible. James Suckling scored it 91 saying "A silky and refined Chianti Classico with dried cherries, dark chocolate and hints of wet earth. Full body. Drink now or hold." and Antonio Galloni's Vinous scored it 90 saying "Dark ruby-red. Aromas of dark plum, cedar and violet show a heavy dose of torrefaction. More complex in the mouth, offering deep flavors of red berries, dark plum, graphite and herbs. Finishes smooth and long, with a distinct tarry element that's not to my liking in sangiovese. The grapes for this wine come from vineyards immediately around the estate's main building, planted on calcareous and light clay soils, unlike those of Fizzano, which are richer in sand."
