Fungal nose of acetone and esters. Cherry, leather and chemicals. Strong drying tannins with a very woodsy finish. This is not a fruit lovers wine - its dark and chemically and oily.

The average vineyard age is over 30 years. Deep attractive ruby red color. Elegant nose of wild red berried and mixed spices. The palate shows excellent fruit support with well integrated tannins. Lengthy finish.

The vineyards are located in Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the southeastern part of the Chianti Classico appellation, to the northeast of Siena. Almost exclusively with a southwestern exposure, the first vintage was 1967.

In a darker, balsamic vein, this red evokes tar, black cherry, underbrush and tobacco flavors. Theyre all held together by the dense, fine tannins. Oak spice emerges on the taut finish. Best from 2014 through 2025. 24,166 cases made. -BS Wine Spectator. A Sangiovese wine from Tuscany in Italy. 2009 Fattoria di Felsina Chianti Classico 750ml

Benchmark Sangiovese from Felsina, the vintage is open and forward, with layers of complex flavors. Felsina has always been a favorite here, and this Chianti Classico is perfect for the dinner table.

Deep, attractive ruby red color. Elegantly fruity nose, with marked scents of wild red berries foregrounding nuances of mixed spices. The palate, too, shows excellent fruit supported by judicious tannins. Lengthy finish.

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2011 Chianti Classico is absolutely impressive and is one of the best base Chianti Classicos I have tasted from 2011. You feel the ripeness and heat of the vintage, but this wine also delivers surprising finesse and complexity. Black cherry and baking spice mingle on the bouquet. Soft tannins wrap around the palate. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025...92" WA 8/13 "This is one of the nicest collections of new releases by Giuseppe Mazzocolin’s Felsina. At the edge of the Chianti Classico and Chianti Colli Senesi denominations, the estate counts 475 hectares, of which 61 are planted with vineyard.
