Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges Premier Cru les Roncieres 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

93+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): Roncières is one of the smaller premier crus in Nuits, but it is beautifully-situated between les Pruliers and les Porrets on the band of premier crus to the south of the center of the village. The Chevillon vines in Roncières range from forty-five to nearly seventy years of age, and the last few vintages of this bottling have been as promising as any I have ever tasted from the domaine. The 2011 Roncières is superb and nicely reserved, offering up a pure and sappy bouquet of black cherries, red plums, raw cocoa, a touch of nutskin, a beautiful base of soil, violets and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and sappy at the core, with great focus, ripe tannins and a very long, beautifully balanced and very soil-driven finish. This is an outstanding wine in the making and not far off the brilliant 2010, which is the greatest young Roncières I have ever had the pleasure to taste from Domaine Chevillon. 2022-2060. (Nov/Dec 2012)
