Chevalier Montrachet les Demoiselles Louis Jadot 96 Jg Premier 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

"The 2010 Les Demoiselles is a classic in the making. The deep, pure and quite primary nose offers up scents of apple, pear, lemon zest, chalky minerality, apple blossoms and new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nascently complex, with magical purity on the attack, a rock solid core of fruit, laser-like focus and flawless focus and balance on the very, very long, youthful and stunning finish. A great vintage of Les Demoiselles...96+" JG 12/11 Here there is no reduction and the purity of the elegant if highly restrained nose of citrus, acacia blossom and pungent wet stone aromas is stunning. Not surprisingly, the medium-bodied flavors are much finer than those of the Bâtard or Corton-Charlemagne though not as big or powerful. The acid spine is also quite firm but somewhat better integrated as there is no obvious malic tang, all wrapped in a gorgeously intense, lingering and impeccably well-balanced finish…93-95” BH 6/12 "A huge, complete wine, the 2010 Chevalier-Montrachet Les Demoiselles boasts stunning inner perfume and layers of expressive fruit, all supported by veins of minerality that occasionally appear hidden by the wine’s sheer stuffing. In 2010, the Demoiselles impresses for its verticality, fabulous overall balance and completeness. It is another wine that should handsomely repay cellaring...97" WA 8/12 "Pale, bright yellow. Sappy aromas of lemon peel, powdered chalk, fresh herbs and tobacco (Lardiere identified "green hazelnut bark"). Utterly silky and seamless, but with superb energy to the flavors of ripe citrus peel and wild herbs. Gains in power and thickness as it opens in the glass. Really outstanding inner-mouth tension here. The rising finish features a whiplash of exotic citrus peel and oils. This should be long-lived. ...95+" IWC 09/12

Maison Louis Jadot is a winery that’s proud of its heritage and land. Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Jadot expanded rapidly, taking northern Europe by storm. When his son, Louis Jean Baptiste, took over in 1900, more change took place, and many vineyards were acquired, including Corton Charlemagne and Chevalier Montrachet Les Demoiselles. With the help of Rudy Kopf, founder of the Kobrand Corporation, Maison Jadot expanded even further, setting up shop in both England and the U.S. In 1985, Madame Jadot sold the company to Rudy Kopf’s family, ensuring a successful future for the company. The land is very important to Maison Louis Jadot, and making the terroir shine through is always a priority. Maison Jadot identifies with its Burgundy heritage, and all wines are Appellation Contrôlée. The winery controls about 380 acres of land in Burgundy, including Côte d'Or, Mâconnais and Beaujolais. Jacques Lardière, winemaster, works with Christine, Guillaume, and Audrey to ensure that the single-variety wines produced, including Pinot Noir for reds, Chardonnay for whites, and Gamay for Beaujolais, always produce the best, most consistent wines. A brilliant hue of pale straw yellow color. The Demoiselles opens with crushed minerals green apple pear and an underline of truffle complemented by cotton candy and slightly warmed brie cheese. The palate is high-toned with great levels of acidity. Flavors of white peach and bacon fat sit nicely on the palate and linger on the mid palate where the precision really kicks into gear. This will reward some years in the cellar but it simply a joy to enjoy today with a nice decant. Enjoy through 2025+. Jeff Loo.
