Chevalier-Montrachet. Bouchard Pere et Fils Cote de Beaune. Grand Cru 2001

Winemaker's Notes:

A complex blend of floral notes and delicate oaky touches. Both full and subtle, this wine reveals considerable personality on the palate. Its marked liveliness gives it great freshness, a sign of good ageing potential. Try with fish and poultry dishes in cream sauce.

The reputation of the Grands Vins fins de Bourgogne is based on two varieties alone : Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. this bottle is all nose- wonderful black cherry, nutmeg, cinnamon and floral aromas dominate. The palate is a bit clunky, sometimes fat, sometimes austere- we'll see where this goes

Bright and remenicent of Burgandy as mentioned before. A great value for a Pinot Noir.

91(+?) Points "Bright red-ruby. Pure aromas of cherry, minerals and flowers. At once dense and delineated, with red berry, mineral, menthol and spicecake flavors enlivened by harmonious acidity. Rather powerful on the back end and in need of five or six years of bottle aging. " Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Mar/Apr 04
