Chaumette Vineyards and Winery Chambourcin 2006
Chambourcin, a French Hybrid was developed as part of a large grape breeding effort conducted in Frane in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The aim of the early breeders was to develop new cultivers that combined the pest and disease resistance of American varieties with European vinifera varieties. Many successes, including Chambourcin, came from this program. A light and gently spiced red, Chambourcin is likened to Pinot Noir in color and weight. Our Chambourcin shows the classic flavors of cherries and plums. Chambourcin is often paired with fowl or light meat dishes, or try it with pizza.
I can't wait to get another bottle of this wine! It was smooth and easy drinking. Fruit on the nose, with dark fruit flavor and ended with a little spice but the tannins were not too strong. Really liked this one!
