Châteauneuf-du-Pape White la Bernardine 2003

Winemaker's Notes:

"The outstanding 2003 Cote Rotie Les Becasses (100% Syrah) represents only
33% of the normal production. Concentrated black fruits combine with notions of
olive paste, earth, and pepper in this dense, medium to full-bodied, rich,
velvety-textured 2003. Drink it over the next 10-12 years. Drink 2004-2016.
90-92/100 points. (Robert Parker - Wine Advocate - Dec-2004)

M. Chapoutier:
The name CHAPOUTIER is present in the Rhône Valley since 1808. In 1879, the distant ancestor Polydor CHAPOUTIER was the first to begin to buy vines, thus moving from the status of wine-grower of an estate to that of a viticulturist, a wine producer and a businessman. The pioneering spirit was already present in the family.

Deep and dark, this is powerful stuff. Dark fruit is quickly replaced by mint, aniceed and tar and the finish goes on forever. It isn't cheap but its a very nice glass.

Good wine for someone who likes bigger and more interesting wines.

I just had half a bottle of this with my Sunday lunch, we found it in the wine rack and thought well if its off then we will open something else. It was delicious.so if you have a bottle of this it's now 2013 and it's still good 10 years on providing its been stored correctly.
