Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition Mont Olivet Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition Mont Olivet Weingut Clos du Mont Olivet Cinsault Syrah Mourvèdre Grenache 2006

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

Medium red. Very fresh, spicy aromas of raspberry and redcurrant, with a gentle floral accent. A sweet, finely etched midweight with fresh red berry flavors, supple texture and gentle spiciness. Finishes with an echo of raspberry and excellent clarity. This is already drinking well.

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Medium red. Spicy red berry and kirsch aromas are complicated by olive, garrigue and dried flowers. Very spicy in the mouth, offering vibrant strawberry and cherry flavors and finishing with supple tannins and excellent persistence. Lovely now, but I'd stash mine for at least another three years.

While cut from the same cloth as the 2000, the 2001 Châteauneuf du Pape Les Olivets has more acidity and density because of lower yields and a cooler harvest. It displays the same pepper, spice box, garrigue, balsam wood, plum, and cherry aromas and flavors as well as medium body and additional tannin. Anticipated maturity: now-2013.
