Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Juline Paul Autard 92-95 Rr 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

"I tasted two barrel samples destined for the 2009 Domaine Paul Autard Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Juline, both showing top notch purity of fruit, good complexity, impeccable balance, medium to full body and a smooth, polished character. There were no hard edges and despite the modern elevage, both samples were all about smooth, pure fruit and polished tannin...92-95" Rhone Report 08/10 "A beauty, with lush, velvety structure wonderfully embedded in the dense, fleshy core of warm plum, fig compote, hoisin sauce and melted licorice snap notes. The finish is inlaid with spice and Lapsang souchong tea notes, with a flicker of anise as well. Not shy about its toast, but wonderfully integrated from start to finish...94" WS 9/11 "Prominent vanilla oak, minerals, punchy bright fruit and resin on the nose. Oak influence renders it upright. Concentrated with masses of sweet fruit and complexity of flavour. Lingering finish promises long-term interest...4 Stars" Decanter 1/12

Jean-Paul Autard runs the family estate since the age of 17. His choices of grapevines, of vinification and ageing (phenol maturity, total destemming of the harvest, ageing in casks) further his quest for balance. "Strengt... Read more
