Tested from a preservation machine. Balanced nose of perfumed fruit with tart and herbal notes. Clean, elegant, balanced, well-integrated deep somewhat smoky fruit (strawberry, black cherry, raspberry, blackberry, detectable in varying proportions) that leans to the savory and is joined by slightly bitter nut oil, licorice, stone, thyme, and tarragon. On the finish everything from the palate fades together in good balance, very nice. Dry. Body medium plus, acid medium, tannin medium plus. I like these kind of wines, and they hold up vacu-corked in the fridge for several days, often peaking on day 3.

The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape is a blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah from the clay and sandy soil sectors of the appellation and completely aged in cement tanks. It has a dense ruby/purple color and a brilliant nose of blue and black fruits, camphor... Robert Parker. Absolutely brilliant and my favorite wine of the trio of 2007s is their 100% Grenache cuvee, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes. Aged completely in small, older oak barrels, this wine displays lavish quantities of blackberry and black cherr... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. Frische Zitrusaromen mit etwas weissem Pfirsich. Lebendiger Auftakt mit vollem Gaumen und langem, elegantem Abgang.

Even more profound than the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Renaissance, is the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes, made from 100% Grenache vines from sandy clay soils (the vines are between 70 and 85 years of age). This wine is aged completely in old... Robert Parker. A Proprietary Blend wine from Rhone in France. 2007 Cristia, Domaine de Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes 1500ml

Winemaker's Notes:

91 points Wine Spectator: Ripe and seamless, with a gorgeous mouthfeel to the raspberry, mulled spice, crushed currant and melted licorice notes. Long and fleshy, with a buried minerality extending the finish. Grenache and Syrah. Drink now through 2025. (9/30/09)
