Chateau Vincent and the Domec / Jadouin family have a long history going back to the 18th century. It is a small property situated entirely within an enclave of 3rd growrh Chatea Palmer. When her husband died in 1968 the late Madame Marthe Domec came to an arrangement with Chateau Palmer whereby they tended the vineyard and vinified the wine in exchange for two thirds of the harvest. As Chateau Vincent was no longer tending the vineyard and vinifing their own wine they lost their cru Bourgeois status.Chateau Palmer bought the estate outright in 2012.Chateau Vincent of Margaux should not be confused with another Chateau Vincent in the commune of Saint Vincent de Paul on the right bank making wines under the basic Bordeaux appellation. I bought two bottles of this wine from the website www.cellartrade.co.uk for £35. Margaux is an appellation created in 1938,although there has been viticulture here since the Romans, for red wines from 5 communes around the village of that name on the eastern side of the Medoc peninsular about 15 miles north of the City of Bordeaux. It is the largest appellation on the Medoc peninsular and the home of 21 Cru Classe in the 1855 classification although Chateau Vincent is not one of them.I am not sure of the exact cepagement of my bottle but I beleive it a blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot.I started the first bottle last night with my supper of baked chicken breast. My initial impresion was how fresh and smooth it was. There is plenty of a blackcurant, blackberry and blueberry style fruit with a hint of iodine or violet. It is a well structured wine but with so smooth tannins. In short, this is a lovely wine that went well with the chicken
