Chateau Vignelaure Appellation Coteaux d'Aix-en-provence 1988

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine from the www.bidforwine.co.uk website for £14.Coteaux D'Aix-en-Provence is an appellation set up in 1985 although there has been viticulture here since before the Romans, for red, white and rose wines from 50 communes around the town of Aix-en-Provence.My bottle comes from a well known property in this area and consists of 70% cabernet sauvignon and 30% shiraz from 40 year old vines. The wine spent a year in oak barrels.I started the bottle the other evening with my supper of roast pork There is a very soft and mellow type of blackcurrant style fruit with soft tannins but plenty of structure. In short this is a lovely wine that did not show its age at all.
