Château Vieux Larmande Red Bordeaux Blend St. Émilion Grand Cru 2001
"Alc. 13.5% by vol; 92 points - Gary Vaynerchuk: COLOR-really nice; NOSE-great classic Bordeaux, floral, lilacs, perfumed, hints of black cherry & cedar; TASTE-Wow!, I'm very impressed w/ this effort, very complete black cherry explosion, lots of black chocolate, and very firm, structured vanilla tannin flavors which is very nice, little heat but it's a baby, great structure & complexity of fruit, Classic Old World Style wine, reserved, classy, this is a STEAL, great w/ food;""... External Reviews for Château Vieux Larmande Red Bordeaux Blend St. Émilion Grand Cru
Dating from the 16th century, this property is located on the outskirts of the charming, historic town of St Emilion. Ranked as a Grand Cru Classe, Larmande relies on Merlot (65%) and Cabernet Franc (30%) and a small addition of Cabernet Sauvignon. Soils here are predominantly sandy with parcels on calcareous and sandy clays. The 2001 shows youthful reserve and intensity in the nose. It is firm and quite intense on the palate, with medium weight, soft tannins and a defining touch of firm acidity. Classic expression of St Emilion in a classic year - very well priced! Robert Parker 92.
