Shows complex and subtle aromas of dried dark fruits and blueberry. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long, refined finish. Very fine. Solid and balanced, with lovely sweet fruit on the finish. Vieux Château Certan is the oldest known estate in Pomerol, and dates back at least as far as the 16th century. Purchased in 1924 by Georges Thienpont, a wine merchant from Etikhove (Belgium), the property has been owned and managed by a family-owned company since 1957. The vines are in a single block located in the middle of the Pomerol plateau, world famous for its outstanding wines. The proportion of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon vines is very high for the appellation. The significant proportion of these two varieties goes back many years and did not change even though neighbouring estates turned almost exclusively to Merlot. Like the finest wines of the Médoc, Vieux Château Certan is best after 10 or 15 years in bottle. At this point, it is at its peak of elegance and refinement. Vieux Château Certan is sold only through Bordeaux brokers and shippers, who in turn distribute the wine worldwide

As usual, this is no blockbuster but has a piercing<br/>intensity, alongside great balance and harmony. Its attractive, pure, perfumed<br/>nose is followed by round, but very fine, crisp, sweet, crushed raspberry<br/>fruit, silky tannins and a lovely lively creaminess. Only 3000 cases of this<br/>wine have been made so we suggest you get your hands on one toute de suite<br/>before they sell out. A magnificent Pomerol.<br/>
