Château Vannières:
The history of the vineyards, house and cellars goes back to the 16th century but it was bought by the Boisseaux family in the 1950's and they still own and run it today. They have 34 hectares and make a range of red, white and rose wines as well as olive oil.The estate is located near Saint-Cyr-Sur-Mer on southerly facing slopes overlooking the sea

This bottle of wine was part of a lot I bought on the www.bidforwine.co.uk/auctions/show/58584 website. Bandol is an AOC createed in 1941 for red, white and rose wines from the area around the mediterranean seaside village of that name between Toulon and Marseilles. Chateau Vannieres is an old estate of 34 hectares now owned and run by the Boisseaux family and this red is 95% mourverde and 5% grenache and spent 20-24 months in oak barrels I started my bottle last night with my supper of roast chicken and I did enjoy it.It is a partticularly dry red wine but there is some blackcurrant and cherry style fruit there although in spite of being 15 years old the tannins are very noticeable. The Spanish Jumilla I had a few weeks ago [ Carta Roja Monastrell Gran Reserva ],also made from the Mourverde grape was far better
