Château Valrose Red Bordeaux Blend St. Estèphe Cuvée Alienor 2004
"The color is dark and the superb nose. Supported by rather powerful tannins, but a little rounder. The bouquet is characterized by its smoothness and its complexity (black fruits, grooves and toast with pretty roasted, mentholated notes and liquorice). The mouth is very tannic with very fine tannins, a pretty bottom and a beautiful length in mouth."
I may even like it slightly more than 4 glasses. First up, the scent of perfumy violets are inescapable. Fruits galore without it being a fruit bomb. I'd say raspberries, red currant, blackberries, a tad oak. To me, it acted more like a Right Bank bordeaux. Light to medium body, medium tannicity. VERY smooth and nicely balanced. It says pure elegance. A pleasure to drink even without food.

Good full ruby-red. Black fruits, licorice and sexy oak on the nose, complicated by black olive and a minty nuance. Moderately dense, sweet and juicy, with pepper, spice and herbal nuances contributing energy. No shortage of body here. Finishes persi... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A classic Ste. Estephe! Seductive blackberry scents, with additional notes of cigar box, and black olive continue on the full-bodied palate. Velvety texture, but with excellent grip and serious length on the finish. Delicious now, but can be cellered for another 7+ years.
