dark bricky red, stinky right out of the bottle this retans a firm edge of barnyard on the nose to which s added some loamy ash, used coffee grounds, plum jam, and notes of vegetal decay - juicy red currant fruit right up front with good acidity and tannins, medium bodied, just not elegant since the tannins begin to assert themselves, the finish shows nice mocha and earth notes with bright strawberry fruit on the finish which evolves into notes of tobacco and pomegranate seeds, finish is long at first progressively shortening as the tannins build. Cool and still slightly coiled bordeaux in need of another 2-3 years to be completely approachable but a nice bottle.

Add your reviewMedium+ ruby colour with resolving shade of garnet. Clean, developed nose of blackcurrants, Asian salted plums, mulberry leaf and sweet Cuban tobacco leaf. Dry, full-bodied wine with smooth velvet texture, lowish acidity. The tannins have resolved nicely but this is still drinking well with rich flavours of dark berries and creamy cocoa. Sexy finish. Drink now – 2022.

This was not a powerful vintage but it did produce wines that have developed excellent purity of fruit combined with early accessability. This Trotonoy is absolutely delicious with etheral notes of earth and coca adding complexity to the delicately rendered yet sweetly fruited palate. A refined bottle of graceful, classic bordeaux that reveals a new nuance with each sip!
